You'd pass the peninsula exiting the northern section of Batch headed south to Little Batch Bay. The channel is to the west (passing by the peninsula which would be on your east (when headed south).

The medium-sized campsite I was describing is on the south shore of the narrows to Batch Bay at the south end of the peninsula. Listed on PP as TW. From here you can be loaded and on the road at Nym in 4 hours. Or if inbound, a nice spot for a lunch break before going deeper into the park.

Which is smarter? Take the portage between Pic and Batch or go around the peninsula?

Ever since I spotted a moose/calf on the paddle around the peninsula, I've gone that way.
Smarter? I don't know which would be best, but if you are double portaging, you are probably just as well off paddling unless the wind is pushing up the channel against you around the peninsula.

Both times I've gone, I've paddled around the peninsula. It's not really that far out of the way and saves a portage. Your saving maybe 15-20 minutes of paddling? Be aware the first narrow coming off Batchewaung is shallow with rocks, but still very navigable.

Paddle around the peninsula. A pretty stretch, out of the wind, not much time added, and even has a nice camping or picnic site on the south shore just south of the peninsula tip. Caught some nice northerns there. This is where my son and I were able to paddle right up to an immature male eagle on a rock.

First time I went in there, we had a late start due to a flat tire. Overnighted at UM. It's a nice little site with a good landing, slightly secluded from most of the traffic through. Saw a Bald Eagle and otters at the site.
Second time in, we paddled through and lunched at TW also. It's a nice lunch stop, but I wouldn't overnight there as a preference...open to all the incoming and outgoing traffic.
