Does the Kawnipi end start somewhere up the creek or does it start along the shoreline to the west of the creek? I thought it was in the creek and just abandoned this day trip because I couldn't find it. I definitely need my readers for the details on maps now.

There is no creek that flows between Montgomery and Kawnipi (Montgomery drains into Shelley). The portage is along the shoreline south and west of the center of the bay- a pretty trail. The location on the Chrismar Map is accurate.

Shoreline but not obvious from the Kaw side.
Neither end has a nice landing.
If you go please look for my wife's new Whiskey Jill
paddle that I left around there two years ago.
My buddies and I were using it as a spare. Dumb.

I thought the landing on the Montgomery side was nice:
I was just there last September, and sorry Thwarted, I didn't see any paddle around there.

On the Kawnipi side, the portage is west of that swamping (creek) area. I had trouble finding it as well.
