I’ve only heard rumors of people going there. Those routes look like the way to go.

Rumor I heard was walleyes we’re in there, don’t even know where I heard that now
so not worth much :)

I was paddling from Silence to Trant once, and thought I saw something like a portage landing on the no name lake that the creek from Ptolemy runs into. We were pretty tired from negotiating those portages and were pushing to Trant so I didn't stop to negotiate.

Time was my problem, I wanted to explore that area, but I ended up spending 3 days on Agnes fishing and looking at the Falls, picto’s and the petroglyphs, then going through woodside, Trant just didn’t leave enough time to explore Ptolemy. Maybe some day...

The route from Silence to Trant is one of my favorites. Rugged, lightly travelled, and full of old growth pines.

Always been interested; seemed like a lake worth getting to. Anyone know if there was ever a route through there? I took the following pic of my old Superior National Forest Map. They show these "canoe routes" in Ontario for some reason. Of course, who knows where they get the info...might be some mapmakers fantasy.

Intriguing notion. Though I must say that the current portages to the North and to the west of Silence (running to Trant or to Reid) are, rod for rod, some of the most rugged in the park. I imagine the bushwhacks would be really tough.
