I was able to camp on Russell because of the wind. The fire touched the east side of Russell but was largely further east. The first day I was there the wind was strong from the west so no problem. The second day was suppose to be again from the west so I stayed there to fish. I actually paddle along the east side heading toward the falls and saw about three places that were still burning. There was absolutely no wind early in the morning and then the wind slowly picked from the south east opposite to the forecast and the smoke slowly creeped out into the lake. I kept pondering whether to stay or go. But l would be heading north and would still be inhaling the smoke so I stayed Finally around two the wind shifted to the south west and thankfully the smoke disappeared. I have outfitted with CC for over20 years because I live so far away and they drive me. I trust your trip was as successful as mine. |

It was a wonderful trip except for one mosquito morning on Murdoch, one forest fire near Russell, very low water in De Riviere and two hours of violent rain in 23 days. Hope you enjoy. |

This was a helluva trip. I'm wondering how you camped on Russell with the fire going on? I see you ran into those Woodside smallies too. How did you work your car situation being solo? Looks like a Beaverhouse entry and out French. |
