I was at O'Hare airport today waiting for a connecting flight. A flight person came on the loud speaker announcing passengers to begin boarding an Air Canada flight to Quebec. The announcement instructions to the passengers were that a vaccine certificate was required including a temperature check before being allowed to board the plane. So I'm thinking, are Americans and Canadians allowed to travel by air across the border? If so, then Americans could fly into Thunder Bay, drive to Quetico, and enter on the northern side.

Is this just wishful thinking or is the border open for air travel?

Wishful thinking. Canadian citizens and Canadian residents can fly into the US. If you don’t have any sort of status in Canada you can only fly into Canada for reasons that Canada considers essential travel.

Absolutely not true. American's always were and still are permitted to fly to Canada, it's only the land borders that are closed.

The reason why hoards of American's aren't doing this is the mandatory 14 day quarantine when you land in Canada. No, sadly you can't quarantine at a remote camp or in Quetico. Unless you have family in Canada it'd be at a hotel near the airport which would be expensive.

You still cannot fly to Canada for the purpose of leisure (unless you have family).

Well, I believe no overnight camping is allowed in provincial parks. And isn't the three night in approved hotel followed by 10 -14 days quarantine still required? And seemed Canada only allowed international flights at maybe 4 major airports?

I apologize for the tone of my last post. I’m just getting tired of people spreading bad information on social media platforms.

You are wrong, but at least you’re confident.
