Glad you enjoyed your trip! I'm a Texan as well (Houston), and I've been going up there for 13 years now for a yearly trip. It's well worth the travels. Walleye fishing takes a little getting used to coming from Texas. We usually go in early June when the walleye tend to be shallower and easier to find. Smallmouth, as you found, are usually pretty cooperative.
