I was in there last May around the 21st. One site down at the falls is kind of decimated, but the other has enough trees and rebounded growth to be a decent site for 1 to 2 tents.

When is your trip, or are you just planning? I'll be through McAree the first week of June. We're mostly just spending a night on the lake on the way out, but we'll probably have an early lunch at Rebecca Falls on the way in as well. Happy to report back what I see in my limited time there.

We'll beat you there; exiting 5/31. I'm soloing over to meet a group that will already be on McAree...was hoping to give them intel on their options.

Wondering if anyone knows the scoop on the southern campsites on McAree...
I've seen the satellite images, and it sure looks like the southern islands burned hard, which most likely eliminated those three sites (5C, 52, 57). If you know different, I'm all ears.
Also wondering about the ones down south across from Rebecca Falls (4U & 500) - Satellite images give some hope that one or both may have been spared, even though that eastern shore was mostly toasted.
So - anyone know?

Sorry I cannot help with any first hand intel.
If I recall, the fire started near that area originally, and then spread northward. Perhaps there could be areas that were spared some of the worst of the burn. Hopefully others will chime in.
