Yeah. I'm pretty sure if the current POTUS wasn't trying to make Canada the 51st state the RABC program wouldn't be suspended past 2025.

Although it's plausible, I believe the RABC review would have been completed by now had it not been for the impetus of the current administration to focus on cross-border issues. I know for a fact that resources in the CBA have been stretched since the election in the USA. And I think it's the diversion of resources that has put this on the back burner and not anything having to do with gripes. As mentioned earlier, this is a terrible inconvenience for Canadians as well who use the RABC.

My son and I have rabc permits from our 2024 trip and see on here were these permits have been extended. Does anyone know how long have they been extended for? My son and I had such a great time up there we would like to return to Quetico again in the summer of 2026 and I’m curious if I should be planning a Canadian entry or can enter from US under those permits?
Thanks in advance.

All RABC permits issued after September 1, 2023, are valid until December 31, 2025. See CBSA link.

Pinetree: "Right now the program seems dead for the future with politics getting worse. I will leave it at that." The pause on the RABC program is internal to Canada. It has NOTHING to do with who is the POTUS. The program was under scrutiny before the November elections due questions raised about the legality of how record queries are being conducted on Canadian citizens. Canadians use the program also.

Canada is in no hurry right now. They are in a wait and see mode. It is very much tied to what is going on now.

The answer to the original question is simply we do not know when or if the suspension will be lifted. Lots of speculation but no answers. Lets hope for the best before January rolls around.

At this point they have only been extended until the end of 2025. There is no word on what is happening after that yet.
