Some early maple reds around, but nothing wide spread. Was enough to get you "in the mood" for fall colors.

BH was unusually busy this year compared to all past years. We put in on Sept 11 about 8:30 or 9 AM. There were about 16-17 vehicles in the parking area. Spoke with "TriTodd" from this site when we put in. Great to speak with him.
Came out Sept 18 and to my surprise there were 24 vehicles in the parking area. Completely full with people parking along the road itself.
Think the secret is out about Q.
P.S. - we might have been the party of 3. We were in a Magic solo and Northwind.

Going in Saturday, hope the crowds have thinned. Any color yet?

Just came back from our trip to Quetico. The put-in at Beaverhouse was busy, although since it was Labor Day weekend, that didn't surprise us. What did was the number of guys we met that were from the greater Chicago area, but had ties to San Diego. It was nice getting to meet these folks and exchange some stories. If you are a member of this site, I just wanted to send a shout-out!

BTW to SunnyBear and MacCamper - sorry we missed you guys. We were on the water and paddling away by 10:30. Hope you had a great trip too!

Missed you too AdamX, wonderful trip with many laughs and shared memories. On a whim we hit the road about 1 am and were on the water by 9ish. Saw one other group of three. However we did encounter more people than expected while on the trail. Only one 36 hour period without a sole. We expected our loop to be quite vacant of campers.
And, on our way out, the Beaverhouse portage was a mass of canoes and folks heading out. Pretty popular time of year, I guess.
