Hi: Is it possible to dehydrate canned cranberry sauce or canned baked beans? I'm going to give it a whirl just for fun, but I am interested to know if any of you have already done this and what your experience has been?
Thanks!

I imagine the cranberry sauce would work if you use the one that has cranberries in it. just spread it out on thin on a try and dehydrate till it gets like fruit leather.

We dehydrate canned baked beans. I remove the fatty piece of "meat" from the beans. Great side with steaks the first night.

Baked beans and refried beans dehydrate wonderfully. I buy the vegetarian or fat free varieties. They rehydrate very easily as well. I just put them in a skillet with a little water.

I thought I would post an update. I have been dehydrating canned cranberries with limited success. My guess is that the canned berries have too much sugar. My results have been mixed at best. Even after prolonged periods in the dehydrator the cranberries are very sticky. I tried to cut them into strips and roll them up as cranberry roll ups, it worked but they were a bit messy. Right now I feel that they would work if dehydrated right before a trip and used within the first few days. Instead of roll ups, I think they would work best if rehydrated. I'm going to try that next!
Thanks!

Thanks for the update on the dehydrated cranberry sauce. I am always interested in what works & what doesn't work.

FYI, I found small packages of cranberry sauce on Minimus.biz (packaged like jams & jellies). They have a few styles...just do a search for more options.
