This year has brought a new fad diet, and while I know the basics of the diet and how it works, I'm wondering if anyone has travelled in the BWCA with keto recipes or foods and just what they were. Cheers! Kegger |

I need to figure out some mix & match. E.g., I tried the riced cauliflower with the coconut milk powder and curry powder and it was pretty good. Also plan on some cheese, meat stuff, and all. Basically, it’s a mess so far. I plan on bagging stuff by weight and marking the carbs on all. I figure I’m not going to care as much about the fat/protein. I also got way too much food as described, I know. I need to organize a bit. I’ll also be logging the meals so I can report back later. ETA: Forgot to mention. Also have a couple of the major food company's eggs and pork products (bacon or sausage) meals, and some ova easy egg crystals. And some pre-mixed fat coffee that I haven't tried yet since it has about 500 calories and I have the macros of a short woman, so I have to wait until I day when I want to make that one of my two meals. Yeah, I really need to narrow this stuff down. |

Following. I bet you could dehydrate some cauliflower rice. I don't follow Keto but follow a paleoesque diet now... and have had great results with potato starch which is W30 approved. |

hunt3r: "My wife and I have been eating ketogenic since February and plan to do the same for our trip this year. We generally dehydrate portions of meat and veggies and make them with rice noodles or quinoa. I think this year we will just have to do a veggie in place of the noodle, rice. I am interested to hear how others have done it if they have. Another thing I can add is that we tried to fry fish here at home in almond flour for a breading and it did not work very well. We are going to try coconut flour next time. I will post back how it turns out." I wonder how well veggie noodles would reheydrate? That could be worth an experiment. Good for you on finding a new fish breading! I’m not sure I can ever get rid of shore lunch... |

minnmike: "This is a great thread, thanks for starting it. I started Keto 10 day ago, and am doing a solo in 2 months. I looked at the Next mile meals, and though they sound great have a lot of "iffy" ingredients like MSG, hydrogenated this and that, and other long named ingredients. I am leaning towards making pemmican, and my own dehydrated meals. Foil packaged tuna and salmon, jerky(low sugar) and pepperoni sticks. I plan on skipping breakfast or having bulletproof coffee. " I agree . They also have a pretty high carb count for the meals they created. Especially considering they are promoting to be a keto company. |

Also, checked out the fat coffee. It’s only about 225 cal/cup. But it sort of smells/tastes like General Mills international coffees (which to be fair are coffee with fat and sugar — this stuff lacks the sugar.) I’ll probably mix w/via if I use it. |

In hindsight I guess I used to eat Keto when I was in the Navy, and was literally in the best health and shape of my life... just sayin... SO.. hmmm now that I am starting to grasp what Keto is... I would venture you could bring any kind of dehydrated meat, and Keto vegetable along... and maybe some coconut oil as its pretty shelf/room temp stable... as a healthy fat. Bring some nice spices to flavor the dish, and bingo! Basically, make Keto stir fry's. |
