Spartan24: "Aeropress. It’s what I use at home, it’s compact enough to take on trips. However, if you absolutely need something more compact there is the Travel Aeropress. They make a serious great cup of coffee!"

If I run an ultralight adventure I will just use via packets, but lately I’ve been more keen to take my aeropress along: despite the bulk and weight and the ability to only make a single cup, it does make the BEST coffee. And with a hand grinder I do somewhat enjoy the ritual of putting it all together.

If you have access to a 3D printer, I designed a new travel cap for the aeropress. It stores the plunger and the lid, and has a sealed compartment that holds 25 filters.
Download the file Here.

This was on rifle lake 3 weeks before the delta closure.

The device mentioned by OP looks to be similar to the ‘bripe’.
James Hoffman did an amusing review here . "

Yeah, saw that one. Pretty surprised he actually did that review. Got a kick watching it.

This wouldn’t be for me as I actually like via and don’t want to deal the grounds but it could be a good space/weight saving option for people who like to brew up in the woods.

Thank you. I love my aeropress and I downloaded the file. It will take a few weeks until I get to it, but it looks great!!

Interesting idea, but I don't think I could ever drink coffee from a straw.

I have used the coffee singles (tea bags) which are like brewed coffee. and have used instant, with tasters choice tasting like real coffee and not like day old coffee of some others.

So basically cowboy coffee drunk through a straw with a filter? Seems like a solution to a problem that is easily solved by other methods. Personally, I don't mind the body of cowboy coffee, after the grounds have settled in the pot, but if you want, you can carry a very small sieve and pour your coffee through that. Or use a french press.

My wife gave me a travel aeropress as a present last year. I love it so much, its all I use now, even at home.

It’s a Lifestraw for caffeine. It also looks like an over-engineered but light weight solution to no real problem.

Restaurant supply or coffee suppliers package coffee in "filter pack" fraction packs. These are 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 oz etc. coffee encased in a filter, like a tea bag. I have not seen them in a grocery store but they are readily available thru suppliers to motels, restaurants, convenience stores etc. Ask the chef, owner, manager to order a box for you. ( about $.75 each) I like 1.5oz ; throw it in a 6/8 cup pot and steep to your taste. Cowboy coffee without grounds.

We just use a Costa Rican coffee sock (no wooden stand, of course).

This doesn't solve a problem for me. And drinking coffee through a straw? Something just isn't right about that...

Here's the "do-rag" coffee option we came up with on a recent Algonquin Provincial Park trip when we discovered we'd forgotten our filters. It worked so well we may adopt it as standard--no grounds in the coffee, no filters to burn or carry out...

Our go to outfitter has these. We have been grabbing a hand full on each trip for years. They work great.
