My wife picked up a bag of raw peanuts the other day. Since we are in Florida, it seemed like a good idea to make boiled peanuts... you see them sold at roadside stands in the South.

I've made three batches and think I have a pretty good recipe. This might be something our group would enjoy with Happy Hour in Quetico.

Has anybody made boiled peanuts while out on a trip??

My concern is the long cooking time... three or four hours of low boil.

Well... they tasted good, but too much time and fuel.

We were back in camp around noon after our best morning of walleye fishing maybe ever in Q. We didn't plan to fish till late afternoon so the timing worked out... but still wouldn't bother again.

We got some raw peanuts and roasted them in the oven to make Kung Pao. I never really liked roasted peanuts from a jar before, but the ones we roasted at home are hard to stop eating. I haven't tried boiled ones. Maybe it's something to try also.
