quote CaptnDan: "I few trips back, my friend and I wanted to take frozen steaks in to eat the first night. We went to Zups and they had no frozen steaks. So we picked some nice steaks and hid them behind something in the freezer case. The next morning, we went in and retrieved our steaks. While checking out, the checker remarked, "Oh, I didn't know we sold frozen meat?". "You are right now", I replied."

Awesome!!!!

quote BWPaddler: "This past trip, my fridge crapped out on me the week of departure (2 days before I noticed it), and my first night's frozen meat was unavailable as planned.

At the last minute, I grabbed a plastic bag of... IKEA MEATBALLS from the basement freezer, dropped them in with the cooler items and off I went.

I must say that they were EASY to "cook" (they are precooked) over fire or in a pan, most everyone liked them and ate them, and the entire bag easily fed six hungry paddlers (2.5 lbs of meat) with a side of mac and cheese.

Not bad for a last minute creation... but too embarrassed to add it to any "recipe" thread."

If it's stupid and it works, it ain't stupid. I think that can apply here. I add those meatballs to ramen sometimes with spaghetti sauce to make a fast spaghetti.

Now you have me wondering how they would taste with a Knorr Stroganoff Noodle packet.

"

When I read that title I was expecting a horse meat joke somewhere in the post and IKEA meatballs are not too far off that mark! We always have those in our freezer but have never though to bring them to the BWCA. Now you have me wondering how they would taste with a Knorr Stroganoff Noodle packet.

Sorry to hear about your fridge though:-(
