I've heard of people, taking a waterproof box and sinking it deep (attached to a buoy). How does this work for people that have tryed that. Just simply looking for feedback, 'cause i might try that out

never heard of sinking a water proof box deep(most lakes you got to get down around the 15 to 20 foot mark but i have sunk beer and drinks during the summer to cool them down.
The issue with a box is first it has to be waterproof, second you have to have enough weight to get it sink. Then you have to be able to pull the box up and into a canoe.
I've seen "cooler boxes" where a wooden box was used with holes in it that was sunk in a spring so the water flowed thru the box to cool what ever was in it.

We have used two zip lock bags to hold our fillets and then put them in a mesh bag with some rocks to make it sink. We have not had any problems with turtles getting to our fish. Knock on wood. This works great for keeping the beer cold.

I'd think a waterproof box wouldn't be ideal to use.... its waterproofness will essentially turn it into a buoy so you'll need extra weight to sink it. Also, the air in the box would serve as an insulator. You'd need to cool the air before it starts to cool whatever you have in the box.

Mesh bags work well because they don't trap air and allow for direct contact of the cold lake water to whatever it is you're trying to chill.

Mesh bag or a wire collapsible fish basket.
