My favorite whiskey drink is to forget the whiskey, take good tequila and drink straight.

I think I'll stow a beer or two in with the steak for our first night (plastic bottles only) then sip on brandy water around the fire. If you want something cold just put it in a mesh bag with a rock and sink it to the bottom while you fish. Doesn't take to long to get cold.

On the rocks.........I know you won't be taking ice, but there are plenty of rocks, so just sit on one and enjoy.

If you find a need to mix, you might want to try a better whiskey. ;o)

Earlier this year, I took one of my powdered drink mixes. Arnold Palmer mix by Arizona. Got mine at Wal-Mart. Mixed a couple shots into my Nalgene bottle. Fantastic stuff.

We did the same using country time lemonade & ice tea mix. Made for an interesting evening.

Not much of a drinker here, but about 40 years ago my uncle told me "son if you got to mix your whiskey with anything your just wasting good whiskey". Like mine straight from the jug. FRED

quote boconorm: "If you find a need to mix, you might want to try a better whiskey. ;o)"+1 I was thinking the same thing. Makers Marker, Woodford Reserve, Knob Creek, etc....There all slightly different and all very good USA Bourbons. All infinitely smoother than CC.

we have been premixing cocktails for the last several trips. - nothing like mixing up a quart of manhattans at a time!

FYI - if you like Canadian Whiskey's - try some of the increasingly popular Rye's. Rye is what give Canadian Whisky that little bit of spiciness. Rittenhouse is 100 proof and very smooth. Helps to save on the weight without compromising quality of the buzz!

It's not Canadian Club, but...

Mix Jameson and Bailey's 1:1. I call it an Irish Kiss.

Mix it before the trip and put it in a good travel flask/bottle. It's Delicious warm or cold, potent, good for the morning in your coffee, desert at night, or even just a swig at the end of long portage.

Any of the powdered fruit drinks will mix well with liquor.
I'm not much a whiskey drinker, but I have discovered that a fine whiskey, when sipped in the presence of good campfire smoke is quite tasty. By sipping slowly, I can enjoy a drink for a long time and not get that pesky hangover. 2 or 3 ozs is plenty at a sitting.

Crystal Light works well with nearly anything. I'm not a big whiskey guy, but mixing different flavors of Crystal Light with Malibu Rum is awesome.

another vote for the lemon aid mixes
If you smuggle in a small amount of mint extract it does perk things up....just saying

"Canadian Mist" during happy hour during meal prep time is pretty darn good. Don't think I would contaminate it with anything.

Hochstadter's Slow and Low Rock & Rye. Neat.

Straight. It's a must try product. When rocks, mixers and plentiful water are an issue, this product is incredible. I'd buy you one if we were leaning up against a bar that poured it.

Agree with FRED: A good sipping whiskey straight from the flask whilst watching the sunset is hard to beat. It's a couple of ounces of liquid I don't mind carrying.

Bonus points if you can master the art of staying hydrated during the day, but strategically limit liquid intake before bed so you don't have to get up to pee.

I've tried it with lemonade mix/water and it wasn't bad. You have to experiment with the ratio but they tend to get better with each attempt :) cheers!

We always have what we like to call "whiskey sweets". Take a sip from the flask and say "sweeeeet". Pass to the next guy.

Pour your whiskey into your cup. Stare at the tang container. Sip. Repeat.

Powdered apple cider with a dash of whiskey is fantastic on a cool evening.
