I make pasta at camp off the stove anyway, add boiling water to a pot of dry pasta cover and let it sit till done. Really works good in insulated pots. Once you get used to this method you will learn how much water to be wet enough for a dried sauce, cheese/alfredo/tomato, even powdered bouillon. Reheat on stove as needed before serving. Also, have used freeze dried pasta, which tastes good but is mushy. Differences in camp food prep may make it viable for other folks, try it. I don't think the cost was prohibitive. Tasted good when I used it, but I thought it took longer (than instructed), to cook to the right texture. butthead |
