Have you used the ghee before from TJ's? Does it keep well without cooling? What are you going to use it for?"

This trip will be my first time using TJ's ghee - I think it should keep well, I'm leaving the factory seal lid on until we get to camp, and the back of the label says do not refrigerate, so fingers crossed!
Planning on using it for night 1 steaks, and then hopefully lake trout! "

I agree - is fine without frig. I brought home half a bottle last year and left on table and used it over a month. Good to the last drop!

Ghee should be fine. I mostly just take butter, bigger problem for my use is cold hard butter. It will keep for most trip lengths, just keep it from melting, below 85 degrees.

That's a lot of fuel for 2guys/6 nights. With the pocket rocket i think one or two canisters would be fine. You can always hear pots over the fire grate too, in a pinch. Rub soap on the bottom of the pot and it won't blacken.

Ghee lasts a long time. Works well for camping. I take it backpacking a lot. Great to have butter (ghee) on bread, muffins, etc.

With your menu including pan fry fish, you could reduce fuel by 1 or 2 canisters.

Looks good! I have not hung a food pack for 10 years; maybe you would be willing to try the stash method one night on this trip?

I would think you could cut down on the amount of soap you are taking. I put mine in a small eye dropper bottle. It only takes a few drops on a sponge to wash the dishes, etc. Otherwise it looks good. Are those fuel canisters the 4 or 8 oz?

There are some folks, myself included, who would need to pack a small plastic bottle of hot sauce.

Looks great! Curious about cordage also, except for painter lines on my canoe I keep cordage to 1/8th inch and smaller, but I do not hang food bags. Only other thoughts is consolidating/reducing packaging/containers may be possible to diminish trash.

One of the lengths of rope is for hanging the food bag, and the other is for rigging the tarp.

Leaving in a little less than three weeks!

I could definitely cut down on some of the soap, I still have an empty travel bottle (the other two are for syrup.)

I could also probably lose some of the packaging, I tried to do as much of the prep at home this year as possible, so there are a lot of vacuum seal bags in there.

If your going to hang your food, I would suggest using a pulley system instead of the single rope system. It works a lot easier pulling your food up & down, plus it is easier on the tree. If you want, email me and I can show you some pics of a pulley system

Packed the food pack last night for our first trip this season - 2 man, 6 night.

Was looking to solicit advice on what I'm missing / what I should cut from the pack. Thanks!

Looks good. Compact, complete, well thought out. Curious about the need for all of the cordage in the food pack, but assume it's for rigging a tarp?

Leaving soon? If so have a great trip.

Well out on the trip and when you get back you can see what worked and what didn't and what you had left over and adjust accordingly for the next trip. I still do it after most trips either backpacking or canoeing. This year I'm in a big push to try to lose more weight in my backpack.
