OK, hobbydog, my last January photo is another hidden animal....the big bad bear: " Was it a big bear or a cub that momma hid?
I saw something stick its head up out of the hay field as I drove by, then disappear. By the time stopped and got across the ditch I couldn't find it. I was thinking it was a fawn. Then I saw a little movement. To my surprise it was a calf elk. He let me walk right up to him. When the shutter went off he was up and running with his ears on backwards.

SaganagaJoe: "What did it take to get that shot? Patience? A good lens? Both? I would love to get into more bird photography. "
It was with my D500 and a Nikon 18-300 lens. Taken on Little John Lake in early June last year. It is hard when you are solo as you have to paddle, drift and get a few shots paddle some more. This pair kept going back and forth and it is a fine line between getting to close and spooking them and not getting close enough. Then having them swim in front of some nice contrasting background. Like most good shots, there are 50 or more you throw away. Goldeyes can be hard to not blow out the whites, Here is the last shot in the sequence, not as sharp nor did I get it framed right.
