That is a beautiful location, Joe, but it looks chilly!
This is Knife Lake, South Arm, at sunset, August 2019.

It's amazing to me how a picture that wouldn't look so good in color looks good in black and white. It draws my attention to shapes and textures, elements I don't ordinarily look for in a color photo. This is also from my recent Olympics hike.

It's easy chair season, can we get this going again?

I was blessed to enjoy several wonderful hiking days when in Washington, so it actually wasn't as cold as it looks - maybe 30 at worst.

This may be a cliche´, but here is a rainbow over the eastern end of Carp Lake in the Quetico. I had to stitch this together from 2 separate images. A 15mm lens on an APSC-format camera couldn't quite fit the whole bow into one picture.

MHS67: " I know you guys are getting hammered with snow back there right now. Here, at 1350 foot elevation this is about all we get. This is the old pull grader we used to grade our road with." Love that image!

I got to spend a few days at my cabin with my daughter this week. It is along the Roseau River which saw some historic fall flooding which was met be a very cold November. It left some amazing artifacts in the woods as the water receded.

A buddy and i camped on Slim Lake in mid September and although we were a week or more early for significant color in the trees, there was some nice color to be found nonetheless.

We used to haul the generator to the top of rock mountain and hang Christmas tree lights from the flag pole.

Thanks Ausable. We don't get snow here that often so when it does snow you grab the camera and go for it!

That looks like a beautiful camping spot! I am enjoying the textures on that opposite shoreline.

Here is the destination from our other day hike in the Olympics. My brothers and sisters (youngest 13) did 16.4 miles with me!

Mocha, thanks for that pic of the stick insect. I am always fascinated whenever I see one (rarely). Fun fact I learned today: these insects can regenerate lost limbs.

Mount Shasta, California, from our road trip in 2017. This is one spot I'd love to revisit.

We were out for a walk yesterday. This old fire-damaged, woodpecker-holed tree seemed to point out the way down the trail.
