Not hand made ....it is actually a PVC tube with birch print. it is very well made. I bought it at Pet Expo in Mankato, Mn

have you given any thought to having postcards or notecards made? i'd sell them in our gift shop and i'd actually use this year round. it's a very peaceful look and feeling when looking at it.

I couldn't pass up a chance to paddle today. A little sun would have been nice. I only had my iphone along but it takes pretty good pics.

HB, I recognize that site; it is probably the only viable place to camp on that lake. A friend and I were there at the end of August this year on a hot, muggy day. We caught some walleyes that evening. Jigsaw is aptly named. Great memories of that trip.

Turns out there is a little nature preserve about 2 miles from my house..who knew? Anyway this is nothing special, just trying out the Brenizer Method. This is 6 photos stitched together to get a really shallow depth of field, just something I wanted to play with, also had to get pretty heavy handed with the colors cuz it was such a bla day, but I like it well enough.

Thanks Mocha, I'm going to continue to practice with this technique. I also plan to start playing with focus stacking and see how that works out?? Always something new to practice on it seems.

Posted the following in the November POD after the end of the month so most folks probably will not notice it. So i thought i would post it again here in the right month!!
12/01/2015 07:37PM Capture Minnesota is a website where mostly amateur photographers post their best pictures shot in Minnesota in numerous different categories. Other members can view them, vote on them or love them, and sometimes leave comments as well. The quality of the photography is amazing and it generates enthusiasm and ideas for those who frequent the site. Once a year they publish a book with the best of that years photos.
I have been a member for 8 years and have nearly 600 photos on the site. Also a member of Capture Wisconsin, same thing but photos taken in WI.
A lot of fun if you are really into photography. They are both free sites, just have to register with a username and password to view others' photos or post your own.

No trip this year and maybe not in the cards for '16 so have been spending more time looking back on old trips and reminiscing. This was from 2010 during the last paddle of the day on Sawbill Lake. Good memories.

I'm going to have to give this a try, thanks for bringing this up!

I think if I wanted to spend that much computer time (Brenzier Method) then I would just buy a really fast lens and tune in Photoshop. Is there an advantage?
|
redoleary
|
There is hardly any time involved, just tell lightroom to stitch "x" amount of photos together, then process as you normally would. The benefit is that you get and effective f stop that is smaller than your actual lens. There are calculators out there that do this but one example I just looked up showed a image taken at f2.0 and after using this method the final image had an effective f stop of f.58.
Plus there is the added benefit that it inspires me to go out and try something new.

I don't think I am getting it. What are the 6 frames: multirow pano or something else?
For me, LR does not do that well with complex stitches and it takes a long time relative to photoshop.
|
jeroldharter
|
I did not realize LR could do multirow stitches. I have 42MB files so that might be my choke point.
I watched a quick video which explained it well:

42MB, I can see how those might slow you down. :)

Yeah it's basically a multi row pano. The benefit of stitching in LR is that it can stitch dng files and output a dng file which I don't believe PS can do.

On my WCPP trip this year I was on Jigsaw Lake for the longest day of the year. Sunset was about 9:40 but good reading light lasted until about 11 PM and started getting first light at 3 AM. When I got home everyone asked if I saw the northern lights while I was there. I thought it was kind of a dumb question because I was never up late enough or early enough to notice. It turns out there was a big a display visible in many parts of the lower 48 that night. I guess I missed it. It was still maybe my best day of the trip and maybe the best day of the year. I am really missing those long days on the shortest day of the year.

I think there were 4 campsites marked on the map but this was the only one that had been used.Like other WCPP campsites, they get so little use that the good ones are always available and the other ones never see any use. I don't know what this lake looked like before the fire but in 10-15 years it will be a beautiful lake. It was so peaceful that night. Low 60s, calm, loons were singing wildly and there was a bluebill chasing a hen on and off during the evening. At one point they flew within feet of me like I was not there. Hard to capture that in a picture.
