Great report! Bummer to hear about day 3 but I'm impressed with how you both handled it. I was getting nervous just reading it! Can't believe it was so busy in that area, but I guess it was a Friday. It seems you have walked away with many good lessons and that's all you can ask for.

Congratulations on your survival! I enjoyed reading your report, maybe more than you enjoyed the trip :). Quite the adventure. I'm surprised all those campsites were filled. Navigation will improve. I think you made the right choice with the wind. So what's next?

Great trip report! I enjoyed reading it. We were over on the Western side of the park between Pocket and North/South for much of our trip during this same period. It was amazing how windy it was across the BDub wasn’t it! We did the same thing most days, early start to try and avoid the wind!

After going through some of the portages you did on Day 3, I can't imagine how long a travel day that was.
I was wondering where you would end up that night! I ended up going past French into Powell, and only saw 1 group come through the next 24 hours! Had the whole lake and both sites to myself, and the lake trout were biting within casting distance of shore.
I also ran into issues with the wind on Gabi, because the route to Kekekabic was perpendicular to the wind at the lake's longest point. It made for a very wet, adrenaline filled, and water logged 45 minutes!

Wow. Nice report.
I read the report. Then, I got out a map to see exactly what you did. That was certainly an adventure. We did about half that in a day (Tusc to Ogish). We were shot. I can't imagine doing twice that...

Dude! I can't even imagine Gabbi in the wind, we were so lucky to have a calm day finally, there wasn't much more than a ripple on even the big lakes when we went through. It was funny how before Gillis the place was empty, we saw 1 boat from the portage out of Little Sag all the way back to the portage to Gillis, and after that (going towards Brant) it was just packed. Guess that was the imaginary line that day. We really want to get back to Gabbi though, I think that was our favorite lake of the whole trip. Just maybe we'll bring a tent this time though.
I was pushing hard to get out that night, thought we'd make it, but once the sun heads down behind the trees and we've basically eaten one meal and maybe drank a liter to 1.5L of water all day, I didn't have much left and knew it was time to stop.

Thanks! Before we even left the parking lot I said, "That was awesome! What's next!?" I think we'll go back up this weekend with the kids and stay at one of the forest service backcountry sites, my back and shoulders are taking a break from portaging. After that, I think we'll have to find something a little more BWCA zen, and a little less adventurous. Hopefully a week long so we can really settle in. I've got a permit for a few days on Brule in august so the kids can swim and take things easy then too. Hoping to check out that little waterfall/swim spot on Vernon if that site if open.

Nice! You got to see what you're capable of and it looks like that's a pretty darn solid day if you need it to be on another trip. Good lessons learned and nice to have a trip in the park whenever and however it happens
