I didn't realize that there were two Crab Lakes in the BWCA. Based on your trip description I thought you were hiking the majority of the BWCA Border starting at EP 4 West of Ely.

I Couldn't be bothered. Not going to debate someone who trips to Minnesota, then complains about everything.... including loons singing.

Heck, you could have made your trip into a service project and taken great satisfaction in doing so. I often find myself picking up trash and fixing stuff when in the wild. Your motto is making trails. What better place to make a trail but on a trail. Look on the positive side, it couldn't have been that bad in the wilderness.

Very unusual trip report. Most people these days would welcome a trail that seems unused/ never been hiked before. I think the SHT fits your bill perfectly.

Don’t know how often you make it up there to trip, but most people value their time alone in the wilderness. While I know you mention it would be common courtesy to let someone into their occupied camp site to take a rest, it’s generally frowned upon to approach a site that’s occupied, even if it is to grab a seat that is being unused. That’s my take on it anyway. Maybe I’m misunderstanding the circumstances of your story. Hope your next trip is more to your enjoyment.

Please stay in the city, on the dry sidewalks, where there are signs!

You're in luck! There will be a volunteer BRT clearing event this fall! Now you can be part of the solution.
Fall 2021 BRT clearing announcement
You might note that not only are there no power tools allowed but also trail markers are not allowed in keeping with LNT principles.

You sound like a real peach yourself. What are you 12? No? Then stop acting like a child who had their lollipop taken away. Go troll elsewhere.
Am I being whiny about the weather and wet conditions? Yep. I realize it comes with the territory, but not gonna lie about how I felt at the time. Fact is conditions did suck some. Am I wrong about the condition of the trail? No. It is again FACT it is neglected. Can't argue that.
If anyone has a legit comment I'd welcome the chance to debate my conclusions logically.

We live in the same town, but I would never trip with you. I laughed when I read your personal quote on your profile..... ""Do not go where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."" LOL

Understand a volunteer organization does most of the trail clearing on the BRT, the pandemic limited their ability to do that work over the past year. All trail maintenance within the boundaries of the wilderness area can only be done with hand tools. If I remember correctly trail marking can only be wooden posts and the terrain limits the ability to install those.
You could donate to the BRTA, or better yet, take part in a trail maintenance trip so you can better understand the effort that goes into maintaining these wilderness trail systems.
