Nice report! We've done Trousers to Cache, but never Cache to Lindsay, which sounds like quite the adventure. And we did Trouser to Cache in a very dry year, which you didn't have. Did you consider Cache River to Kawnipi, or was the water simply too high? Great to read the positive comments following such a taxing trip!

Thanks for reading! We didn't consider the Cache River, only because we were on a bit of a time crunch and were already behind schedule by only finishing one of the portages that day. I have informed my son that, whenever I die, I want my ashes spread in Cache Lake. Maybe he'll be smart and avoid the second portage by taking the river. :)

Robert Beymer who has written guide books for the Boundary Waters and Quetico, states, don’t even think aboutbdoing this trip unless you are in the best physical and mental condition. My son and I, who are veterans of many canoe country trips, somewhat scoffed at the warning. We did the trip in 2007 and afterwards, I could not have agreed more with what he wrote and the warning.
Great trip report!
