I've caught grayling in 1-2 feet of water. But you are right, most of the fish were caught in deeper eddy's of 3+ feet depth near rapids.

Thank you for the pic, that was not what I was envisioning. Although I purchase light gear for the most part, I would have a 120 litter pack and an 80 liter or so food pack. I would likely need a PakCanoe. Something to think about for the future. Thank you again for the write up and the pic. PakCanoe

Looks Like you had a good time- Bugs seemed to be a big part of your experience. I may have missed it but did you rent the packraft or buy one.

LindenTree: "How did you carry the gun while paddling? Stowed, if so how did you keep it dry? Did you have it handy while on the rivers?
I lived in AK for 3 years and did alot of paddling there."
I just strapped the gun to my pack. It did not keep dry but the gun was a cheap shotgun so I wasn't too concerned about causing rust. Since it was strapped in, I had bear spray on my hip while paddling in the unlikely scenario of a moose/bear charging my packraft.

Rented it. It was $280 for 7 days which is almost exactly how much a solo kevlar canoe costs in the BWCA. The difference is that a kevlar canoe retails for $3,000 while this packraft retails for $1,300. So it was a difficult decision on whether to buy the raft or rent it.

Great right up! I would be interested in seeing some pics of your pack raft. The creeks looked so beautifully clear, very unlike the the glorified storm sewers they call creeks where I live.
