Selfsuffi: "Thank you for this trip report. I don't think I can put into words the memory's this brings back of the last fish my father caught. I am sitting here at work drinking the first cup of coffee all teared up reliving some beautiful but haunting memories. I really appreciate your journey and I can relate to this from your sons perspective. Maybe I will start a new thread "Last Fish" to help process my thoughts running wild through my mind right now. Beautiful pictures and a beautiful family. Thank you again."

I am so glad to read this trip report - been rooting for you to make it. Seemed like things were conspiring against you when you realized the season was closed when it looked like ice out would be a few weeks earlier than it turned out to be. I'm taking your advice to heart; Carpe' Diem!

What would be fun is fishing for whitefish when they are surfacing and feeding on mayflies.
Yes lake trout on the surface is a ball.

When I saw the photos of you with the joy on your face, it got a bit dusty in here. So happy for you that you were able to manifest this trip.
