Great report. We are thinking about the Stuart River entry up to Iron for our next trip and your report provided some good information. We were going to exit out at Moose River.

I have six children and have solo and group tripped with 4 boys but my daughters say no way. Nice thing about going with the boys is they are all big strappers and are portage animals. They take care of me.

Thanks for the report,

UP Boy

Nice trip report! Amazing how the Stuart behind the busted beaver damn has changed, it was all mud a few years ago, now everything is green & alive. Cool.

What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger...right? I think you and daughter will be talking about this trip for a long, long time :) Funny stuff. Very nice report!

Great TR! Thanks for sharing. You are a great dad and Katie is a patient daughter.

I took my girl into the BW this past August too-- best experience I've had with my daughter, and one we will repeat. Cheers, Karen

wonderful report! Isn't it a bittersweet thing when the kids are finally stronger than we are?

Great trip report! I hooted the whole time. Took my nephew in 2007 on the same trip. His first BW trip. He is 6'3" and 240+ so I let him carry most of the gear. We started single portaging......until blood started coming out of my ears. That was the year I decided to get in shape b/f a trip. Again, good read!!! Namaste

I had a good laugh reading that. Thanks. The photo of your daughter in the lake was taken from almost the exact spot that I lodged a treble hook in my Dad's nose twenty years ago! He passed away ten years ago but before he left this world he taught me many valuable lessons. One being don't stand directly behind an eight year old throwing a spoon:)
Now that my daughter is about the age for her first canoe trip I can't wait show her this amazing place. We'll leave the treble hooks at home.

Thanks for the memory jog,
Dan

I loved your trip report. I have traveled that route and I laughed because I almost got turned around on that same "shortcut".

Papszoo,
We got a few things in common, I too bring way to much oil for fish, and I have also been known to get turned around and head down the wrong, creek, trail, or lake, but I always figure it out.
Nice trip and great memories, Thank You for Sharing.

Well done. Very funny stuff. And I think with the crew you have that you will be able to be chauferred along on the next trip.
