Awesome. Here in Arkansas, my garden is about done for. The first frost of the season is right around the corner. It was a great year for tomatoes.

I've got my first novel coming out in December sometime. I'll let everyone know when it hits.

Here's a link to a video I made of the fish we caught. Get ready...there's a lot of heart-stopping action in it. :-) I'm not sure if I posted it in here anywhere, but if I did, so what. Here it is again.

Glad you liked my report. That area of Saganagons is the best fishing area I've found up there. I can't imagine paddling through it without getting a lure wet. Of course, if everyone else wants to only paddle through...that's okay by me. ?

I saw one mention of "24-inches", what species was that? What were the measurements of the smallies?

At any rate, nice fish!"

We had some Walleyes in the 29" range, several in the 25" + size. The largest smallies were 20-21" and I had a lake trout that was close to 25". We caught no small fish this year. It was incredible.

Thanks, After re-reading your report I found much more information on fish size. Awesome fishing trip!

Glad you enjoyed it.

I'm 53, and there's a part of me that would like to do a big loop and see more of what Quetico has to offer. Even though I could do it, the amenities of base camping would be difficult to give up.

glad to see i'm not the only one who fishes as soon as he hits the water and while traveling. I travels with a friend who isn't into fishing and he remarked that he had never seen anyone who could paddle and fish at the same time.........

Once I get past Silver Falls, I have to at least troll. I've picked up several nice fish that way. Besides, since I've paid the Quetico price to get in there, I want to get my money's worth.

If I didn't fish right away, that would be like paying to get into the movies, but entering and sitting down AFTER all of the previews.

"Liked" it? Hardly. I LOVED it. I'm going to link to it in the fishing section. Your fellow fishers might like to see those fish.

Excellent report on an Excellent Trip! Thanks for sharing this wonderful adventure. As I read the report, I thought to myself, this guy is a very good writer, and then I see you are writing a novel. Beautiful pictures to boot. Well done Terry."

Thanks for the compliment, Andy. It was an awesome trip.

My first manuscript is with the publisher. I'm not sure the novel will be ready by Christmas, but at least shortly thereafter. I'm working on a sequel to it right now. I'm new at this, so writing is an adventure also.

Thanks. I try my best to make the meals part of the experience. Most of the guys I take up there with me only go one time, so I want it to be a trip of a lifetime for them.

The meals aren't difficult to make, it just takes a little creativity and planning is all. The best piece of equipment I ever bought for meal preparation is the Outback oven.

http://www.backcountrygear.com/backpackers-pantry-outback-oven-10-in.html

Several places sell it online. It's fast, and the size of it bakes for up to four people. With it, I make biscuits, muffins, cornbread, cakes, desserts and pizza. It's the easiest oven I've ever used, and it's lightweight. It's designed to use over a burner.

Just cruise through your grocery store sometime with your mindset on camp food. You may be surprised at what you can come up with.

Terry
One box of pound cake mix, box of cream cheese and powdered sugar. Pour the prepared cake mix into the outback oven, combine the cream cheese and two tablespoons of powdered sugar in a Ziploc bag, cut a corner and squirt the mixture into the batter.

I'm sure that trip has me spoiled. You don't hit hot fishing and perfect weather up there very often. Glad you liked the report.
