Thanks for a well written report. My father and I were never close so to hear your story is very strange to me but nice. I am in the Chicago area too. Go Blackhawks!

quote SaganagaJoe: "You could always bring the kids with...My grandpa is my tripping partner. We're taking a trip this year with my brother (age eleven) and his brother (age seventy). "
Oh I hear ya! They're not my kids though, they belong to my sister. They do need a good dose of the outdoors, which my dad provides them regularly. When I have kids they'll be making the trip north at a very early age.
Also, thanks Bill!

He is 66. I know thats still plenty young to make a trip, but his priorities are elsewhere (namely the grand kids).

I need to put together the photos to create albums to go with the reports I've posted. I really hope its not his last trip, but with how faraway he lives now it will be much harder to get a trip together, add in the fact that I'll soon have my own little family that will likely mean a hiatus of canoe trips (pushing hard for no hiatus!).

Last hurrahs? Too bad, man...maybe you can coax him up again sometime. Sounds like you had a great trip. Pictures?
