we are planning on going to Adams Lake in July via Kawishiwi Lake EP. You must paddle/portage mean and lean to get there that quick. We went to Malberg a few years ago with some scouts...hot muggy day... and those two long portages toasted the guys...plus the deer flies were merciless. That little puddle between those portages didn't give much of a rest.

yes, we single portage. We had 5 people....that duffer makes a good portage monkey.
TB...I really liked the area. Some fun stream paddling and the portages are pretty flat and easy. Trapline was a real neat paddle and Adams was a very interesting lake.

Thanks for the report and pictures, cowdoc - they took me back to my last couple of trips, which have been through EP #37. I also liked the area and thought Adams was a neat lake too. And I enjoyed paddling on the Kawishiwi River.

I checked out your fall trip photos from the East Bearskin loop - we are contemplating that for our own October trip - and all I can say is - WOW!!!!! Just WOW!
The Kawishiwi photos are great as well. Thanks for sharing.

I missed your group by a few hours as I entered EP37 just before you. Also camped at Lake Polly on the first night on the one of the islands on the north end. That sunset was great! The next day I went up through Koma, Malberg, Beaver, Adams, Boulder, Cap, Roe, and camped on Sagus for two nights due to rain on the 3rd day. I hopefully will get my trip report written up sometime soon. I've got lots of pictures to process as well.

Thanks for sharing and I really like the photos. So glad to see that lilcowdoc was able to make it for a trip with you. I hope my girls still want to trip with dad when they are grown up. Getting up to the Malberg area is at the top of my list of trips that I want to do.

Nice report.
I'm guessing we were on Lil' Sag the day you had the hail. We had just stopped to cook lunch when that system moved in. Fortunately there were some spruce trees for us to hide under.
Thanks for taking the time to share your story & photos. We're looking at that area for our fall trip, so it's nice to get the flavor of the area to whet the appetite. :)
