I just got a new Forester. Lots of room for gear in those. Good gas mileage too.

Last year I almost ran out of gas with my RAV4 taking the back roads between Two Harbors and Sawbill Lake and back. With my 2015 Forester I traveled over 400 miles before I gassed up in Tofte. I traveled back to the Twin Cities with almost a half tank of gas left. I’m only on my third tank but have been getting about 31mpg. No topper though.

Right side as you approached the falls from Sag, so the American portage. Where was the Canadian portage? Was it better for some reason? I know the Horsetail Rapids portage was Canadian for sure.

Grandpa's is basically a rebuilt '07, handled great on the road and got 25 mpg with a fully loaded trunk and topper.

You could easily spend a whole trip just on Saganaga, so much variety and beauty, and good fishing if you know where to go.
