Very helpful Trip Report. I loved your pictures! I can imagine myself right there along with your wife on that portage in knee deep water lol. After reading that part, I wonder what I'm getting my self into? Haha. But I am up for the adventure and I know that the challenges will make me stronger!
Im sure there will be some cuss words coming out of my mouth along the way though ;)

Another great trip report and beautiful pictures. Thanks for taking us along on your adventure. You're very blessed to be able to throw together a quick trip like that, and good weather is always a plus.

Enjoyed trip report.
Aurora starting school? It seems like only a short while ago she was bundled in baby blankets. Time is slipping away quick, it seems.

Yes it is.....

....but, it's always fun to look back. Which is a big reason why I write up trip reports.

Funny that you mentioned seeing my dad (heavy canoe). I thought that was pretty neat. Reading that trip report brought back some great memories from that same trip dad and I took. It was a very beautiful fall. We had the same dilemma as you guys. We didn’t know if I should miss school especially at the begging of my freshman year.

quote gymcoachdon: "I enjoyed the read, I covered a lot of the same water in early Sept. I am a little confused, on day 3, did you end up paddling the entire triangle? A lot of paddling in a short day if you did. At least 15 miles, and included the bogwalk out of Eskwagama! The rookies I took with me were done after a 9 mile day."

We did do the entire triangle that day. It was a long, though, rewarding day . I'd paddled the entire triangle (in one day) on a previous trip, So I knew what to expect. Thanks to everyone for the nice comments.

Another great report TB!!! I did the Triangle entering at South Kawishiwi River for my 1st solo at the end of Sept. into Oct. in 14. It is a great area and I also had a fair amount of people around. I thought the same thing about it probably being really busy in the summer. My 2nd night I stayed on the island on Clear Lake and all sights ended up occupied that night. My 1st night I think I stayed at the sight you had lunch at the one day. I really liked the site. Your picture looks very familiar with the big rock outcropping. From your pictures it looks like you had more fall color than the year I was there. I remember that portage to Clear Lake well. It took me a little while to find it also and I was anticipating trouble because I had read on here that it isn't marked in the correct place.

I enjoyed the trip report, TB. I haven't been to that area. It looks like you had some nice color - that's one of the things I missed this year.

Great trip report! Never been in the BWCA from the Ely side. It is awesome that you have put the time and effort into acquainting your daughter with the "real world". Thanks.

Thanks for the trip report Paul, great as usual. I have been close but never to the triangle. Looks like an interesting route.
