Was getting ready to walk the dogs and looked at my Hummingbirds feeder and to my amazement saw a Oriole feeding from it.
Pretty early for them to be in my area, NW Indiana. I put out my Oriole feeder and filled it will jelly.
Still no Hummingbirds...

My wife saw an oriole fly thru the backyard yesterday so I found a blood orange in the fridge, sliced it in half, stuck one half in our crabapple tree, the other half on the top of our plant hanger on the edge of the deck.....snapped this photo this afternoon.....got some much better pics with camera I will try and post later.....we had at least 3 visit the yard today....they completely devoured two whole oranges.....I will have to buy more tomorrow.

There have been a number of Baltimore Orioles, both male & female, here for about 5 days. Last year was the first I've ever seen them here and they only stayed for a few hours.
Have also had white throated sparrows, white crowned sparrows and a lone Chipping sparrow for several days last week.

I usually don't see any Orioles in my neck of the woods until late May, early June.....when the mulberries are ripe and plentiful.....with that said, a lady down the street from me had one visiting her feeder this past weekend.....

I think if I saw an Oreo at one of my feeders, I would have to seriously consider how much alcohol is too much;-)
I am trying to attract orioles this year. At the recommendation of a local bird feed retailer, I put out a couple feeders last week containing grape jelly, nectar, orange halves and mealworms. Have seen none so far, but something is enjoying the mealworms.

Have had one hanging around for the last week or so in McHenry County, IL for the last week or so. Today, I had 3 at the same time. Going to buy a new suet feeder and some oranges or mickey mouse a little tray for a half an orange so the juice doesn't drip on the deck and attract ants. Trip to Farm and Fleet tomorrow for that stuff. Awesome!

That is awesome! I hope to see that in our back yard, but I am skeptical as we have a pretty busy street behind our house.

Baltimore orioles seem to pass us by here in NE GA, but orchard orioles like the willow thickets on the river sand bars and in the beaver wetlands. I think willow is structurally convenient for hanging nests. I saw my first one of the season this week.

First Oriole of the year; heck first oriole I have ever seen-made my day! Now I realize I need a better lens for the camera I am borrowing from my daughter. This could get expensive...

Might be Blue Birds eating the Mealworms.
