Waiting on hummingbirds and orioles in the Twin Cities. Put out a bluebird house in my backyard this year, but none so far. Wondering if I will have any luck with the bluebirds or if I am dreaming given my small, suburban loaction.

It's been a weird winter for birds. I have had House Wrens at the feeders all winter. That never happens. I do enjoy them however. Such a small bird with a loud voice.

A Scarlet Tangier is back at my feeder this year again. Second year in a row. I'll try and get a good picture.

Migration in NE GA is still the other direction! We are getting a huge explosion of pine siskins moving south and east out of the cold. January 1 there were no siskins here. Now there are hundreds at the feeder. North Georgia also has quite a few sightings of evening grosbeaks this winter.

Saw nine American White Pelicans this morning on the St. Louis River in Duluth, opposite the Boy Scout Landing. While I'm thinking about how to get a picture at that distance with just my iPhone, about 150 Tundra Swans in a huge V passed overhead. My wife saw our first Goldfinches on Park Point; the males were in brilliant plumage.

Birds that are just migrating from the Atlantic and Gulf coasts are showing up in good numbers in NE GA. Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, Black and White Warblers, Louisiana Waterthrush and White-eyed and Blue-headed vireos in particular.

I had my first hummingbird of the season at my feeder two days ago. A male. He has been back every day, so hopefully he stays around.

As I look out my patio slider here in southern Minnesota, I see 2 robins. First sighting this year.
Yesterday we had overcast and 3" of snow accumulated. Today, partly sunny and temps hovering around 40. Very nice.
I am home all week so I will be on the sharp lookout for other seasonal changes in my "neck of the woods".

Moorhead Mn. Orioles at the feeder yesterday, put hummingbird feeders out, lots of Finches, Cardinals have been frequent to the feeders, more this year than last. Put up nesting boxes for the Chickadees, Nuthatches, the Chickadees are the only ones showing interested. Waiting for Martins, 3rd year I've had the houses out, maybe this is the year?

A Yellow-bellied Sapsucker was on my roof this morning. From the little I know, they are only in Minnesota during the summer time...

They fly fast. ;-)

Robins: my wife saw 2 today. We have 2+ feet of snow on the ground, will probably have 2.5 – 3 feet by tomorrow, and the wind chill tonight will be -4 deg F. I don't know what those birds are eating; they are not seed eaters as far as I know.

Watched a Forster's Tern fishing off our dock. Wow, awesome aerobatics! I had never seen one stop by our lake before. My son spotted a Green Heron the other day which we had never seen there before either.
