My mimic hierarchy, from bottom to top: 3. Gray Catbird - annoying distraction when looking for the real thing among the warblers and such 2. Brown Thrasher - Cyndi Lauper on hallucinogens 1. Northern Mockingbird - the true artiste in the bunch and the only one that has made me burst into laughter at its virtuosity and range

sedges	05/11/2021 08:24PM   Not a great photo to work from, but I'm going to say Northern Mockingbird. Its got a real long tail like a mockingbird. My first thought was Gray Catbird, but I think what looks like a black cap is just shadow. Also I don't think Gray catbird ever has wing bars.
airmorse	05/11/2021 09:25PM   I sent that photo to a buddy of mine and he said Grey Catbird. What you can't see from that crap photo was a red patch at the base of its tail on its underside. That identifies it as a Grey Catbird. It is a new bird to my backyard and ate the crap out of that orange half I have out for the Orioles. Thanks for the response!
