I heard this bird calling from just above my tent two weeks ago on the Isabella River. It made this three-step call for quite some time, all at about 2:00am. Honestly, I'm not 100% sure its even a bird, but not sure what else it could be. Not a tree frog, not a sawyer beetle. Any ideas?
I put the video on Youtube, but obviously it was dark so there is no actual visual part - just the sound. You may have to turn up your volume.

Thank you Jillpine! I watched some other videos on Youtube, and that's most definitely what it is. I don't believe I have ever heard that sound before. Maybe it has something to do with having camped in the old Pagami Creek burn.
