jwartman59: "Had this bird in my yard yesterday. Got to watch him with binoculars for a good 15 minutes. 100% positive on this ID. However this bird is way off range and the big shot birders want/need a better photo than my admittedly horrible iPhone photo. This guy was singing his non stop song so he shouldn’t be hard to locate if he’s still around.
North of 9th and east of Chester creek.
Let me know if you see it and get a photo, you’ll be famous

When the bird photographer I married wakes up from her nap, she's gonna box my ears for letting her sleep. We're up the hill from you in Kenwood. Here's evidence you can wave at the people who think you're nuts.

Did you get a recording of its song?

What I can see of the bird in the photo and having a loud, non-stop song makes me think northern mockingbird.

Wheatear is a ground bird. Even when there are trees around its focus is on the ground or a low shrub at best.

Get a recording and a better picture. It is possible, but needs reasonable documentation.

The last reporting of NOWH in MN was in 2019 and it was not a well documented sighting. It was near Annondale.

The photo leaves a lot to be desired. My first thought was mockingbird as it sang non stop. Black eye stripe ruled out mockingbird, then I’m thinking shrike but beak was clearly thrush like. I did record its song, I could email it if your interested. Funny thing was I just got back from a two hour bird watch hike, I was walking from my garage to my house and there he was. I’ve been bird watching most of my life, it isn’t often I see a bird and wonder what I’m looking at. Heading out now to bird some more open habitat, something not typical here in Duluth

I would like a copy of the song recording if you have it. I will be in Duluth following canoecopia and would like to try to get a sighting. Very exciting.

Spent a couple hours (early and later) yesterday in the area noted - none heard or seen. Beautiful day weatherwise!

There were some heavy hitters in the crowd back in '95. This location and similar ones will go into the rotation here as soon as my spouse is told of your sighting:
