Good idea, never thought of that. Am going to give it a try. Thanks.

Have you considered compressing it? I'm not sure if it's awful for my tent, but starting last year when I had to fly my gear to CA for some trips with kids, I stick tent and tarps in a large GG compression bag and cinch down. A solid heavy block (Timberline4 here), and poles outside it. Just an idea.

We've had the Casa 6 for a couple of years. It is a very good tent for the weight/size/cost. We couldn't find anything better out there for our family of five. You can easily stand in it.

The tent packs down to a size that is too long for vertical/horizontal placement in our pack, however it probably means we just have to separate the rain-fly, poles, and tent. Vestibule is has plenty of room for entry and for stashing packs. Easy to put up.

We have a new tent this year and I LOVE it! It is a 6 person and only weighs 12 pounds. It is called the Casa 6 by mountain hard wear. It fits our family of 5 with a dog and gear easily. Large vestibule as well.
