+1 Both of my girls do the same. We also bring the card game uno.

Great idea with the journal! I had to leave the house yesterday for a couple of hours and my daughter "made sure" I wasn't going to "the far away woods" without her. I think she is really excited to go. You should see her reason our travel route pondering the map on our living room floor. I thought I was the only one addicted to the north-woods in my house. Not anymore. I consider myself blessed.

Awesome! You've done it before and you know what you are doing! Have a great trip.

I love my daddy/daughter trips. Each year I alternate which girl I take and it's just the 2 of us and the other girl stays home and does special things with mom. The time alone with them in the bwca is priceless. I've done 3 trips with my 9 year old and my 7 year old gets her 2nd trip this year. I don't take them in as far as you are going but then again it's just the 2 of us and we don't go for as many days. I tell them it's "their" trip and let them make as many decisions as possible (unless it involves safety). Such as what's on the menu, where we camp, when we fish, eat, sleep, explore, swim etc. They love looking at the maps of where we are going ahead of time and helping me plan.

I look forward to hearing about your trip when you return.

Ditto here. Sometimes I wonder if I "ruined" it for them by starting too young, ha!

BUT - despite their protests of hating camping and hating the BWCA and hating Nature... every minecraft residence looks like a log cabin, lol!

I am very excited to have my 5 year old daughter (almost 6 when we take the trip) joining me this year. This will be her third bwca trip. She went to EP 47 when she was one (saw moose!) EP 14 when she was 3 and loved every minute of it, even when it rained all day long. She didn't go last year and lets me know every day I better not go back without her. My wife was able to join us on those trips but is not able to on this one. I do have two other adults joining us on the trip. Here are the trip details:

We taking a tow across LLC to bottle portage end of summer. Base camping on Iron. Might move once or twice to camp on Crooked. 7 day trip. She loves fishing and ALWAYS out-fishes me. I love that! She will have her own "portage pack" and paddle. I know we are packing "Smores" already and I plan on using my Insulated Food System for fresh food etc. She will also have her own paddle, camera, flashlights, camp chair, and water bottle. What else should I plan on to make it as much about her and special to her as I can? Also, Any "to do" suggestions?

Thank you for any feedback you have to offer!
