Check, I did a very brief session in a park near my house today and yes, it felt great!

I didnt go north, just a few miles west to ski Hiawatha Golf Course. No groomed track yet, but enough snow that I felt fine using my "new" skis. A wonderful loop, hardly a blade of grass poking through anywhere. Hope to go back out tonight for a night ski with daughter.

quote tremolo: "I did two loops around the golf course yesterday, about an hour and a half of skiing, not too fast, but very very fun. Lovely snow. Noticed some places are groomed, and there is a lit course near my work that I can try out. Hope the cold stays so the snow sticks. "

Sounds like the snow is here to stay. :)

Time for me to get out the rock skis and get ready for the next snowfall.

Got out for my first ski today. Went on the Legacy Golf Course near Brainerd. Kind of sloppy (43 degrees when I was out), but it sure felt good. Good ski years usually begin with the ability to get out already in November.
Think more snow everybody!

Way to go Gutmon. I am going to try to do a ski trip with daughter to Duluth this coming wkend. Skinnyski says there are lots of places in tip top shape for skiing there.

Where are you going to ski? Don't forget Lester Park for a lit night ski. Let us know how it was. I am going to be in the warm climes (30 degrees) of the UK for the next week, but hope to hit the trails hard once I return. Would like to make a track in the back before I leave on Friday, but it's not looking too likely to happen...

I think I just need to make the push to get to duluth with gear on fri, and decide on ski routes once we get there, much like our oct trip. I have zero time to plan. I will keep Lester Park in mind. SOunds like fun. Not sure if they still have the snow base they had earlier.

First ski- Unpacked the rock (and trail breaking) skis late this afternoon and decided to put tracks on the North Arm Trails. Plenty of snow and about as early as I've ventured on to these trails. Not enough cold weather to freeze the swamps or take all of the heat out of the rock, little pools and streams of water sunk in the snow. The North Arm of Burntside Lake was pretty much open water and I would not trust the ice on the smallest lakes.

Groomed trails in Ely are in remarkable shape for the first day of December.

Gonna head to Duluth next week for a couple of days of skiing. A good friend up there says that the trails are in gr8 shape.

Will let you know how it goes.
