Elm Creek has lessons for only $22, well worth it. They also have a nice area setup for practice.

I wish I was better @ this. Cant get the whole pushing out side to side deal down. Debating lessons but not sure I can get out enough to justify spending $ on lessons. Not a lot of snow around CR IA lately and the Co. parks close @ sundown. It is dark by the time I get home. Hmmmmm.

I actually learned to skate ski from a guy I used to work with an IQ of around 30. I was always having trouble getting any "ooomph" out of my stride and then I watched him for a while and he showed me what I was doing wrong. He used to rock from side to side, but would give a little extra push off of each foot before switching to the other foot. I tried it with my ski stride and it was just what I needed. You might want to rent a "how to" movie and watch it before paying more for a lesson. Good luck and let us know how you come along.

Check YouTube as well. I noticed there were a couple of decent videos on how to improve your skating stride.
