I'm still loving mine. I don't think it handles like a Prism at all except that it is hard to surf. If by "light" you mean getting blown around by the wind then it is not an issue at all in the Canak. I'm actually more windproof than the SOT plastic kayak guys I fish with.
I switch between an Ottertail single blade for effortless all day quiet cruising or a carbon Werner for shorter blasts when you need to get moving. It def is easier to get proper stroke rotation in a Canak with a double blade compared to the typical solo open canoe, but is still is not a touring kayak.

Thanks. Planning a solo in September and going through an outfitters. This was one of the canoe options. I’m not a real experienced canoe paddler but live on the west coast and am more familiar with a kayak. My last Boundary Waters trip I had a Kevlar prism and just thought it was too light.

If you go with the Canak, you will enjoy it-especially with your kayak experience!

I had one, and it was a nice paddle. Tracked well and was a nice fishing platform. Quite a bit heavier than my present solo, and for extended trips, the cargo holds were too small. Bought it from a buddy and sold it back to him; he is 6' 7" and fits just fine in the cock pit. It was a blast to paddle with a yak paddle!

Spent about an hour paddling a 16 ft version. Handled and felt like a Prism, but with a lowered seat and cut down sides. The deck eliminates a lot of wind effect, much easier to keep a straight line in crossing breezes. Cockpit is roomy, and I thought the hatches big enough for my gear (I pack small with an internal frame 3200 ci pack and a 1900 ci daypack). Used a 12 degree bent shaft 50 inch paddle.
I still prefer my Advantage.
