Just returned from testing out a "Wenonah Advantage" with my full set of tripping gear!

I own a "Wenonah Moccasin", paddled "Prism", "Voyager", "Vagabond", "Bell Merlin 2", and "Magic", over the years.
I have been impressed with the Magic but think the Advantage will be my next canoe.
Any insight from other Advantage owners?

Good luck. Looks like a fine boat. I am expecting my new baby, a Wenonah Prospector 15 in Royalex, to arrive today. Its a "second" I found at Sierra Trading Post. This will be my local canoe for small pond/lake fishing, and exploring the small waterways of central IL and southern MO.

quote butthead: "PS; My favorite local paddle is a small lake, a flyrod [5 wt.], and some bluegills!"

Sounds like we have the same idea for local fun. Bluegill filets are fine eating.

The little Prospector came today. Sadly, someone at UPS dragged the poor thing quite a distance on rough concrete. Under the bow there was a hole worn through the packing and a deep scrape through the epoxy on the boat. Well, I accepted it and UPS will be paying for the repair. I'll charge them for a pro repair and do it myself. Discount!

I picked it up at Canoecopia.

Hey Butthead:
So, what was it about the Advantage that makes it your "next canoe"? How did it handle, how did it paddle? Would you be willing to write up and post (here) a review explaining the pros and cons of the Advantage?

(btw... lucky! I want an Advantage)

I felt comfortable in it right away. The seating position, lower tumblehome [didn't feel like elbow rests as in the Prism and Voyager], and stable feel [I am comfortable in what many consider unstable]. Paddling efficiency is comparable to a Voyager, better than a Magic, turn handling is in between the 2. My loaded packs, GG Talus rucksack and Camp Trails Torrid 2 [thanks bojibob], fit perfectly. For those familiar with Rutabagas test canal I had no trouble turning around the fountain east end and ferried the west end several times without any forward or backward movement. 5 strokes of my Camp Paddle bent shaft had me at 4+ mph by my GPS, easy cadence to maintain 4.5 mph.
It's a foot longer than my Moccasin, and will not lean as far, so it will not be much to play around in.
I flyfish out of canoes and will have no trouble in the Advantage.
I am sure it will make a fine BWCA tripper for me.

Just curious Butthead, did you get the Advantage? The 2011 Wenonah catalog doesn't have it listed. Did they replace it with a similar model, or just discontinue it?

I am putting it on order tomorrow. The change in the website caught me so I called to verify it's availability.
Intension is to pick it up at "Canoecopia".

Thanks Andy! I'll have to wait till 'Canoecopia' to pick up my canoe [a special order deal] but I have the receipt in hand! Have a ball with that 'Prospector'!
