I have got addicted to having too many game cameras. To me it is like checking a trapline and seeing what I got,plus I have them spread out and get a good walk.
Have got many bobcat,bear and wolf pictures over the years.
The biggest deer tho are under my apple tree at my house and they will always be safe there.

Up to this spring, my parents owned 35 acres east of Hinckley that he could bury deer processing waste on. I assume he dumped or buried the guts up there that one time. He would donate the hides. I could see how getting rid of that could be a problem if you couldn’t just leave it in the woods though.
Do you know anyone who lives on a few acres? I bet it wouldn’t be too much of problem to get rid of stuff like that in the lightly developed exurbs.

Driving down 94 on Sunday evening you'll see countless trucks with deer legs sticking up out of the truck bed or trailer. A lot of folks take the deer home to a processor closer to home or they'll take them home to butcher them in the garage. The risk should be minimal if any as long as the remains including the head aren't dumped somewhere other deer can come in contact with it.
I usually bring my deer back whole or in quarters to butcher at home. Bones are broken down and double bagged and tossed in the garbage. The hide is donated assuming donation boxes are open at the time. Early bow season donation boxes arent open yet so thats when I usually quarter the deer on site and leave as much as I can including the hide in the woods. "
Butcher shops must have a criteria where they dispose heads and bones. We shoot them on my brothers land and that is where bones go back to.

Where you looking?
I'm seeing a lot of sign in my hunting area. Sat for the AM and PM last Thursday and had 3 does in the morning and 2 smaller bucks in the afternoon. Could have killed one doe at 12 yards had it not done a U turn on me and the 2 smaller bucks walked right through my shooting lanes at 20 yards but I gave them a pass.

With leaves just falling and rut just starting many areas you will see pickup of activity this week. The population varies so much statewide with areas to the south and west probably a little higher than elsewhere.
Populations up north of Brainerd are a fraction of what they were in like the early 2000 period and earlier.
Seen a fair amount of rubs and a few scrapes the last few days. Bucks are moving into areas they haven't been all year. Where the does are present.

Bucks will move where the does are at. Bucks are wanderes and often are like 6 miles from where they were last year if they survived. Does are homebodies,they stay put.

I've thought about doing that, not seriously but I have wondered how I could make it work. What do you do with the gut pile? Into the garbage? I've butchered a few deer in the garage and used the garbage to get rid of bones but they can be broken down pretty small and aren't going to risk leaking anything nasty.

The only question I would ask with CWD in Minnesota I would not take head and bones too many miles from site of kill. I know all here would not have to be responsible for spreading it.

Just to be clear, except for that suburban deer put down by the police after being hit by a car, inedible deer parts were returned to the land where they were harvested from.

Went out after halftime of the Vikes game to scout for deer sign. Not much in the usual spots. Is this do to global warming, too?

This is the first year I've had multiple cameras out. I currently have 3 out and my uncle has 2 more but only has them on the edge of his yard but he gets a lot of deer on cam including the biggest bucks.
It is addictive. I have to tell myself to not go check them as often as I like. I try to wait until I'm going in to hunt since I'll usually walk by one or two of them and I'll pull chips on my way by. Otherwise I'll only check if I know I won't be hunting that location for another couple weeks.

Our yard deer usually show up just after I get back home after not shooting a deer on a hunting trip. Mother nature really knows when to show up to mock you.
I live in Shoreview so northeast burbs and we see a lot of deer in our area. Had 5 making a lap around the block in the middle of the day last week. The does walk around without a care in the world. The bucks are more careful, we do see them but usually only glimpses and usually early in the AM. Still working on getting a good photo of Mr Big that roams the hood.

I've had a ton of young bucks on my cams with not much for does. Then about 2 weeks ago the amount of does on cam really went up. I was happy to see that.

I have a scrape in my east metro yard inside the 694 belt. First my garden, and now the damn deer are ruining my lawn. I heard a woman was killed when she hit a deer on Hwy 36 in Maplewood recently. There are too many suburban deer.

Where that woman was killed isn't real far from where I live. I drive through there all the time.
I wish there were a way to hunt my neighborhood. Most of my neighbors beg me to shoot some of the deer because they can be a real hassle if you want to grow anything. So far i've held off because I'm not sure how neighbors would react if I start field dressing a deer in their front yard.

I doubt that would go over very well. My dad gutted the one that got hit outside my door a few years ago in his garage. I got the permit from the cops who ended up dispatching it. We just loaded it up in his truck and he brought it home. All but one of the hind quarters was salvageable.
