Here's a review that compares its new features to the original Mini. $50 more, for one thing. |

1) better battery life is good, ether they updated the battery technology or circuitry so this is a good thing. Could be a life saving thing. 2) quicker connection time is good, software, internal chips, satellites who knows, so this is a good thing. Might even be a better Helix antenna. Nobody complains that the response time is too fast. You want the information fast. 3) pairing with a Garmin watch, many ask what’s up with that? Probably more internal chips or circuits. I own the InReach Explorer + unit and also a Garmin Finix 6 watch. When I’m out in my kayak on Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, the Mississippi River, or hiking in the Grand Canyon I can see on my watch exactly where I am with a moving GPS map. That’s a good thing too. Linking my watch and my InReach is a big bonus for me. So the smaller mini unit Now has the ability of actually showing you a moving gps map on your watch. Not great but better than nothing. And when I’m in my kayak I like to watch it to see where I’m at. I use the tracking so on my watch it is drawing a map to follow back to my truck. Another good thing. I’d say if you are in the market and don’t want the bigger InReach unit, buy the new #2 mini. |
