Computer: iMac (20-inch Mid 2007) Operating system: OS X 10.7.2 GPSr: Garmin GPSMAP 62st MicroSD chip installed: LakeMaster Minnesota 2010 Most useful free software: Garmin BaseCamp 3.2.2, Google Earth 6.1.0.5001, Garmin MapInstall 2.1.6, Garmin WebUpdater 2.0.6, Garmin Map Update 4.1.2, Garmin MapManager 3.0.1 Most useful web tools and forums: www.gpsvisualizer.com, forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showforum=11 forums.garmin.com/forumdisplay.php?f=171 www.gpsfiledepot.com forums.gpsfiledepot.com My 62st connects to my Mac with a USB cable and both the unit and any card inside show up as drives on the desktop. Fully free to copy backups of all data - trails, waypoints, custom maps, etc - to any other storage. BaseCamp is especially useful in organizing and editing data - eliminating errant trailpoints, for example. The only slight irritation I've experienced was the inability to download the BWCA Campsites & Portages developed by eskimo_pi. (I view this as more of a developer limitation rather than a computer platform limitation.) But I have lots of other options for the same data, not the least of which is the infamous Arch Harris data. Have fun with the MacBook Pro. Very nice unit. The Oregon 400 should operate just as seamlessly with it as my 62st does with my iMac. |

quote Frenchy19: "Red Pine Mapping just released a Mac version of their BWCA/Quetico maps for Garmin GPS units. Thanks for that, Frenchy. The screenshots look excellent, but I'd like to see a list of the lakes for which depths were mapped. Their email support link is limited to a group of pre-set FAQs. Never know, some of those few lakes missing on the Garmin LakeMaster chip might be on there. |

That being said----my wife made me switch to a MAC in 2002 and I hated it for a month but now I'd agree with the saying once ya go Mac you will never go back ;) T |
