Thanks Schweady,

After several hours of reading the manual and trial and error, I finally figured out how to save and load map data to the MMC cards, both pre-loaded and blank, and to the internal memory of the GPS.

It's basically the process that you suggested. It's a cumbersome process at first but now that I know how to do it, I'm good to go.

For each of my 3 pre-loaded Freedom Maps MMC cards I now only have those waypoint that are specific that map. I have also create a backup on 3 previously blank MMC cards.

Thanks

I don't know about the Freedom Maps cards specifically, but back when I had my ExpeditionC it was always suggested best practice to use a blank card to store your additional data rather than chance mucking up a purchased map data card.

This is what I like most about my Garmin and the BaseCamp application: just copy to the device the portage and campsite data needed for the near future and when a trip in another area pushes you near the limit, save the data for prior trips in BaseCamp and delete from the device. You can always reverse the process later when traveling that old favorite area again.

I manually load waypoinst of all BWCA portages and campsites into my GPS. I have started to load waypoints for Quetico and have reached the limit.

Does anyone know if you can save map data to a pre-loaded Freedom Maps MMC Card?

I have 3 different Freedom Maps MMC cards. One for the Quetico, one for Minnesota (BWCA) and another for Colorado for elk hunting.

Can I write to these pre-loaded Freedom Maps MMC cards and load the elk hunting wayoints to that card, the BWCA waypoint to that card, etc......
