quote 3Ball: "CalTopo is terrific. Thanks very much for the tip. I happily wasted a good chunk of my day poking around there!" Oh, my, yes. Easy to get lost poking around the layers. Along with the usual BWCAW curiosities, I spent a great deal of time with a 100+ year old map of the Perham area which marks old schoolhouses, roads, and towns that no longer exist. (Don't plan your next walleye fishing outing based on these lake depth markings, however.) :-) |

What can I expect to be able to find for maps, either free or for sale? I luckily got some permits to camp in the Lake O'Hara part of Yoho National Park to the west of Lake Louise in Canada. I thought that I would easily be able to locate some free trail maps to download, or at least some very local trail maps for sale. I haven't had much luck. Am I looking in the wrong spots? Is this just something I likely have to do as a custom overlay map starting with Parks Canada pdf map? |
