This is a San-mai blade based on my regular process.
On this knife I used a block of what is called Red Bush Willow. I'm lucky enough to have acquaintances all over the world as a result of my business. This past June at an annual Blade Show in Atlanta, a friend of mine from South Africa walked up to my table and plopped two blocks of this down as a gift.
It's some spectacular stuff - like working with a brick!! It's just hard - and beautiful.
