Do you make your own Damascus?
I've gone through most of your videos and really like your style of locking the handle to the knife because it leaves such a clean looking handle and must be incredibly strong. Why do you use that method or did I just answer my own question? Maybe I've missed something but I don't see many other knife makers attaching handles in that manner?
I still hope to meet you at the Janesville knife show. It will hinge on my son's work schedule if I'll be attending or not.

I use that assembly method for both of the reasons you mentions - it is INCREDIBLY strong, yet allows the owner to fully participate in the overall health of the knife by being able to take it apart and maintain the internal portions of the knife as well as the outside.
It eliminates any external components that sometimes clutter up the outside, and the maker knows no other way of building a knife.
As well, that assembly allows for adjustment for any handle material expansion or contraction and eliminates any stress on high end handle materials.
I could literally go on and on about it.
Only a very small and tiny % of makers use that method.
I was taught by the best - Jerry Rados.
I'm leaving in the morning for my next show in little Rock.
